2nd place at the AVK Innovation Award 2021 – Processes and Procedures Category

Together with Lufthansa Technik, iSAM AG won 2nd place for the adaptive automated repair of composite structural components in aviation.

The robot-based system developed by iSAM AG enables repairs to be carried out on various composite structural components thanks to the intelligent combination of a 3D image sensor with proprietary software for adaptive 3D path planning. The repair areas can cover several square meters on multi-curved components with accuracies of up to ± 0.06 mm.

The system reduces process times by 50 – 85 percent and material consumption by up to 50 percent. The repair workers become operators of the robot cell and are thus relieved of repetitive and unergonomic tasks. In addition, this system enables repairs to be made that were previously economically or technically not feasible.
