Autonomous Ship Loaders and Advanced Anti-Collision System

Collisions mean high risks in ship loading, because they cause immense costs due to downtime and damage to valuable assets. While conventional ship loaders can stop only critical movements with their simple position sensor systems, the iSAM® advanced anti-collision system is able to identify potential collision hazards in advance. It also creates a foundation for remote and even fully autonomous loading process.

The highlights of the iSAM solution:

Lasersysteme

3D laser scanning system for ship modelling and boom and shuttle protection

GPS

RTK GPS system for machine positioning

Sensordatenauswertung

Software for sensor data evaluation and detection of possible collision hazards

Datenschnittstelle

Interface with existing machine control systems

The advantages of the system:

  • Automatic identification of all collision hazards
  • Timely warning to the operator and the machine control system to stop critical movements before a collision occurs
  • Customer-specific slow-down and final-stop zones to operate the ship loader as close to obstructions as possible
  • Prevention of downtime and damage to valuable assets
  • Reliable sensor equipment even during obstructive weather and environmental conditions such as rain, wind, dust, fog and snow
  • Optional upgrade to fully autonomous ship loading from any remote location
