From blue-collar work to white-collar jobs with iSAM
We support the transfer from blue-collar to white-collar jobs. By integrating advanced autonomous solutions into traditional operating structures, we are redefining work. Instead of individually controlling large industrial machines, an operator can now monitor several machines – turning 1:1 "on the machine" into 1:n "from central control station". This creates ergonomic workplaces in office environments – in control centres that are sometimes thousands of kilometres away from the plants. There is no need to fly personnel in and out, thus CO2 emissions are reduced.
Greater safety in industrial processes
Our autonomous systems, such as the advanced iSAM® anti-collision technology for ship loaders, use 3D laser scanning and RTK GPS to detect potential hazards and enable preventive measures to avoid collisions. This proactive approach minimises downtime and plant damage and ensures smoother operation, while significantly increasing workplace safety.

Our history

1983 In 1983, our former CEO, Dr. Jürgen Hellmich, founded EDV Jürgen Hellmich with an initial team of four employees. The first few projects involved the use of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in the steel industry.. 1985 Two years later, the company became iSAM Hellmich GmbH. “iSAM” is an acronym of “industrial Software Application Manufacturing”. 1993 In 1993, iSAM Hellmich merged with software development company inma to form iSAM-inma Gesellschaft für angewandte Kybernetik mbH. Since then, iSAM has provided a comprehensive range of services for industrial process automation. 2002 In 2002, iSAM became a public limited company, providing the financial platform for subsequent expansion. The principal shareholder is iSAM Holding GmbH, whose shares are held by eight private investors, three of whom are members of the Executive Board. 2021 In 2021, HHLA AG, Germany’s largest port operator, acquires 80% of iSAM’s shares. The remaining 20% of the shares are still held by the shareholders Dr. Jürgen Hellmich, Bernd Jotzo and Bernd Mann.
